Default WARNING ABOUT LS1 JET HOT HEADERS

hey people i just had my jet hot headers installed, and i wanted to let you guys know that i had major fitment problems. for example on the passenger side is rubbing against the heater box. on the driver side it is rubbibng against the cross-member, and i also have a major exhaust leak from the flange.

i was suppose to get a phone call from them by 3/25, regarding to the situation, however i'm still waiting for that call.

You must've gotten an LT1 set. I've had Hooker longtubes on my car for almost 6 months now. I have no rubbing w/anything whatsoever. Install was a damn breeze...myself and a couple of buddies got the old manifolds pulled off, plugs changed, and the new longtubes put on in about 4 hours. That was with major BSing sessions and taking our time. As far as rust goes, couldn't tell you..I had mine jet-hot coated.

No, he is absolutely correct. The Jet Hots are by far the worst install I have ever done on an LS1 car. I have installed every LT and Mac under the sun, they definately take the cake in 4-letter words..

Lets not mistake "Jet-Hot" coated Hookers for Jet-Hots LTs. The Jet-Hots are Hooker rip-offs, and obviously not the quality the Hookers are. There are about 10 or more guys in our local club that have Hookers (not Jet-hot rip-offs) and none have had problems. Myself included. There are also a couple that got the Jet-Hots, and are having the same problems described above.

FYI -

I installed a set a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't the easiest task in the world, but they are on. My biggest problem was an 11" space between the Y-pipe and my Borla!! Could of been disasterous but a dude at a local muffler shop sold me a scrap piece of 3" pipe for $15 (staying late for me in a mad rush to get there) Whew... Although open headers sounds good, I think the novelty would have worn off before the next chance I had to complete the job.

I installed a set for a friend when they first came out and the fitment was horrible. I will not install another set, the guys either buy Hookers or install them themselves! I have Hookers and have installed several sets and they have fit flawless EVERY time. Thanks god Jet Hot still offers the coated Hookers at a great price!

I have the same problems as you guys. The driver's side header was resting on the K-member, the passenger's side last primary was touching the heater box and now 2 months after the install, the damn coating is starting to flake off. I'm not flaming Jet-Hot, but come on now, I didn't pay for these headers so I would have to dent them up and file down my K-member to get them to fit, and for the coating to flake off.

But luckily, I haven't had any problems with the Jet-Hot's (and hopefully won't have any), but I am also not the one that installed them.

Just ordered a set last Wednesday for an install this week. That is weird that they told you they didn't have them. They went up in price some, but they still have them. Good luck with your Jet Hots. They are fine after the horrible install.
