Default Dyno #'s high

I just got back from the dyno. I have a 98 ss with the m6. My only mods are the loudmouth and ftra and slp bellows. For some reason the torque only came out to like 100 ft/lbs. My hp power at the wheels was 340hp. What do you guys think. I think they are doing something wrong. I know the torque is totally off but what do you think about the hp numbers.
340rwhp?

The dyno software screwed up. Sounds like it was reading your RPMS wrong. The dyno measures horsepower, and then takes a RPM signal from a spark plug to divide out and get the torque at each rpm.

So, your 340 number is probably right, the rest is garbage. Did you get a printout?

I knew the numbers were going to be high before I went. I just wanted a baseline, even if it was high so I can see how much hp I gain from my new Texas speed and performance lid. I havent seen any posts with a car that has the stock airbox then switched to the new lid. I wish there was another dyno around but the closest one is like 3 hours. This one is like 15 minutes so it is easier to go to.

I also think 340 RWHP is way high for your vehicle/mods. What brand is the dyno? Dynojet's seem to be the most reliable from what I've seen. With no other mods you should be around 310 RWHP. Obviously the torque numbers are garbage, but that would also make me question the HP numbers. You would really need to run the car again until you come up with an accurate number. See if you can get a more experienced operator. Also, you shouldn't have to pay if they never gave you a good torque reading. <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

The dyno is a superflow dyno. I dont know how good they are. It was a pretty nice setup, it wasnt in the air , it had the rollers underground. My friend also went there and high numbers. What would make the hp numbers so high? I called the owner and he is going to check into the torque numbers for me. I should be able to get it done for free. If I cannot Im not even going to bother and will never go there again. I know the torque numbers is from the sensor that they put on the wheel. Does this sensor affect the hp number too? I have no clue how it works.

Thanks for the reply

That number is too high for what you have considering that the FTRA and the bellows won't help in the dyno anyways....they'll probably help out your ET at the track...which only leaves you with a loudmouth exhaust and a 98.....I think you'll be closer to the range of 310 to 315 at the most.....as for the torque...well what can I tell you......you need to re do this using a better dyno in order to give you baseline hp and torque to give you an idea of the worth of your mods.....
