Just got headers on :), is this normal?
. So I just went out to try starting for the first time. All I have on it right now is the headers, no Y yet. First I just turned it on to "run" and tried the cd player... still works
. lol. Then I tried starting it and it started right up and went to about 800-900rpm and then fell right back down to 0 and died(obviously
). So I started it again and this time as it fell I gave it a little gas and held it between 500-1000rpm up to about 2000 at the most, pretty loud...
and pretty cool sounding. It sounded similar to a drag racer. Anyway, after some slight revving I took my foot off completely to see if it would idle or just die again. It dropped back to about 100rpm and almost died, but didn't. Then it came back up to about 300rpm and idled there, rough, but still running and pretty steady... rpms weren't jumping around I mean.So my question is, is it normal for it to run like that after a header install (and no Y, just straight out the headers)? Thanks!
Also, what is there that I can tie my o2 sensor wires to? They are hanging down like a foot right now and I don't see a whole lot of anything to attach it to...
As for the wires, you just have to be creative, tie them back on themselves, add some clamps along the oilpan rail, anything to keep them off the headers
I only had it running for a total of about 10 or 15 seconds, so it didnt really get any time to relearn anything. And no I'm not planning to run them open, I'm going back out there tomorrow to attemp putting on my TSP ORY between the headers and my Hooker catback. We'll see how that goes. After that I'll try to start it, maybe take it for a drive if everything feels right.
