Default Exhaust Resonation

Ok, originally I had the stock catback/manifolds/y-pipe, a Flowmaster muffler and a Flowtech cutout. Now, I'm running SLP LT's, an SLP ORY, and a cutout. With or without the cutout there is resonation. There is, however, a bolt missing from the cutout blockoff. I am wanting a loud setup but do not want the interior resonation (raspy sounding, like metal clanging).

Do you all have this rasp with loud exhausts or is there a chance there is something loose where the y hooks up to the headers or where the y hooks up to the catback?? I was thinking about ditching the catback all together and running a Borla muffler at the end of the Y or just throwing a bullet muffler on at the end of the Y. I know this will be loud, but will there be rasp?

Advice please!

I'm running the exact same exhaust setup as you. SLP LT's, SLP ORY, Flowtech cutout, only I have the E-Cutout. And there is a little rasp, but nothing like you've described. Either that or I'm going deaf.

Try putting a dynomax or magnaflow bullet, or a borla xr1 at the end of the y-pipe. Those are in order from loudest to quietest and price too I love how mine sounds with the 4" bullet...it sounds really deep at idle and screams up top...but still pretty dang loud. The shop's still tuning on the car (had a couple cars in front of me). I'm hopin to have a vid posted next week of the car idling in and outside of the car as well as on the dyno

no, no, no. do not weld anything into your i-pipe. the flowmaster muffler was DESIGNED to resonate from 1800-2200 rpm's. it's supposed to do that, it's what it was meant to do. you need to put a REAL exhaust on your car. follow my instructions and i guarantee you will be happy.

ditch the shitty stock setup w/the flowmaster muffler (possibly the worst performing combo out there, too). get yourself an SLP dual/dual (now SLP powerflo) setup. it will make plenty of noise with LT's and an ORY. it's the quietest setup you can get overall, but you have a cutout for being loud. do NOT expect this setup to be ungodly loud. this is what you will get:

-no noise at crusing. you'll have to open your windows to hear anything
-absolutely NO rasp, even with an ORY
-plenty loud at WOT
-the closest an f-body will ever get to sounding like a mustang
-a stainless steel system that will look brand new 5 years from now (mine is 5 years old and i could comb my hair in the muffler - still a mirror finish)
-beautiful, shiny tips that were damn near made for a TA and still look good on a camaro

I like the advice ChocoTaco but I will never pay to make my car sound like a Mustang.
I am thinking of getting a custom true dual setup with 2 bullets (one on each pipe). I don't want to pay to have it go over the axles so now I just have to figure out how to hold the CME tips on even though they won't be in use...

there you go! True duals! You can check out my setup if you can find it under my name. I have made a virtually raspless setup.
