Default Pacesetters are ON!!!

YAHOO!!!! It is awesome. So throaty and deep, but I can keep her quiet with I need to (around police, neighborhoods, etc.) Another happy customer with the quality and fitment of the pacesetters. It took me and two friends about five hours from pulling the car in to driving away (we had a lift and air tools We took our time because the car was very hot when I got to the shop.

It's been said many times before, but I will echo this. If you are installing headers, get a 10mm ratcheting wrench. It made the install much easier. I'll be taking her to teh track on sunday, hopefully running a high 12? I think if I can drive the car well and it hooks, I can get it.

Anyways, if you are doing headers and have any questions, ask away.

you should be taking the car to get a tune rather than to the track. I left about 18 horses and 25 ft lbs of tq on the table after my pacesetter install. The tune got me more power out of the setup.

I thought about it, but I'm just not sure I want to shell out $450 right now, then another $450 next spring when I do heads and a cam.

I know alot of place down here charge an abbreviated price for a retune. Say you pay 450 for the original tune, they usually charge 75 or so for a retune. Might be worth it.

Interesting, I'll have to look into that. Anyone know for sure if Speed Inc. will do this? Thanks for the advice guys.

In my opinion, I say buy the necessary equipment (in time), and tune her yourself... you'll be glad that you did, especially w/future mods constantly being planned.

I actually just emailed them(Speed Inc.) and asked them that same question. It's $450 for the first tune and he said its $100/hr. for a re-tune, so he said probably plan on $100-150 for the re-tune.

get the tune, you dont want your a/f all messed up. Some people get away with headers and no tune, some people dont.

Which manufacturer made your 10mm ratchet? Is it 10mm specific?
Thanks

Man, I would go ahead and get the tune. From what I've read it makes a world of difference. As soon as I get the gears in my car, its going straight in for a tune.

Even if you dont get the full tune, you should at least look into getting the rear O2's, thats only if you're running an ORY.

I'll have to look into the tune then.

Topflite, just about everyone makes the 10mm ratcheting wrenches. All of my tools are craftsman so that's what I used, although I know Autozone carries a different brand of them.

Around 20-30hp, and time, anywhere from 4 hrs to a full weekend (depending on problems encountered, and skill level)

After all my listed mods I had my car dynoed and my A/F was nearly perfect and the guy said it would have hardly been worth tuning, i'm waiting for the cam for that. 6 months after mods and it's run perfect. I'd hold out, may be a waste of money with minimal gain.

I ran without a tune for about a month or so. I gained almost 20rwhp and 30rwtq after the tune with my pacesetter install. Also my motor was running an A/F of almost 17.1 not good my friend. Some people get away without a tune but I didn't. I would look into the investment of the tune and save your h/c till next year. With a good tune you will notice a great deal of difference.

i hope you didnt use the gaskets that came with the pacesetter headers...those things are total crap...if you did use em ill advise that you put some better ones on ASAP before these melt to the headers/engine and then blow out on you

I haven't felt any gain since I installed my pacesetter and ory. I know I need a tune, my car is probably shooting raw fuel it's so rich.
