You can get a stripper that is specially for powdercoat. Or you can blast or sand it off. It's tough once you mess it up. I would sand it smooth, not worry about getting it all off, and re apply the new powdercoat. Luckily with powdercoat, you can powdercoat over the top of it.

i tried to powdercoat over the top of the old stuff with no luck, the areas where there was metal exposed, the powder stuck to like glue, but the already powdercoated areas seemed like powder repelant.

by the way, when powder coating, when the electrode line is hot, do not touch the object you are powdercoating unless you like the way electricity feels.. shocked myself real good <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

im trying to set up a small business, and i am trying to learn how to do all of this stuff real good.. so far everything has come out looking real nice, its just where i messed up and applied the wrong coating first that messed me up, and to make things worse it was my maf ends.. now they look all horrible cuz i tried to sand it off with a dremel tool, but that takes FOREVER and doesnt work very well..

now i have a horrible headache from breathing in the fumes from the dremel tool (the sanded off aluminum and powder coating)

ugh what a bad expiroment.

if any of you guys ever invest in a powder coater, DONT MESS UP.

I can't help you with taking it off of aluminum but if you ever mess up on steel you can always use electrolysis cleaning method to remove it. It takes off pretty much anything and is easy to set up.
