Default Throttle body question, concerning idle speed.

Okay... can the size of the hole in the throttle plate be reduced to cause a slightly lower idle on an otherwise stock LS1 car?
Is the plate steel? If so couldn't I weld the hole up then drill it to a size that suits me?
If I found someone with tuning software, would it be easier to have the idle lowered that way? Can the idle be lowered with simple tuning?

I don't think so because the IAC motor will compensate for the smaller hole...

Idle speed is supposed to be controlled by the PCM. If you attempt to change the idle speed by any means other than programming, you will be fighting, and possibly defeating, the PCM.

Yep, make a smaller hole for less airflow and the PCM will open the IAC valve more to compensate because of it's preset "desired idle" setting in it's programming.

Plate is aluminum so you need to find someone who can weld that.

Basically you can only go down so far, if idle is higher from a ported TB then welding the hole up and making a smaller hole can get it back down to stock, but if the IAC is opening up then you have gone to far so as they said it will compensate for it.
