Do I need a DS loop with a 02 z28?

Do I need a DS loop with a 02 z28? Looking under the car today, I see a piece that goes across just below the TA and DS just south of the tranny tailshaft. IIRC, this is about where a DS safety loop would be bolted to... is this basicly a factory DS loop?

Re: Do I need a DS loop with a 02 z28? all 4th gens have that, its just a cross piece... its not a 'loop' because there's nothing between the shaft and floorpan... a real loop would replace that piece...

Re: Do I need a DS loop with a 02 z28? Well it doesn't matter how much HP u run, it matters if ur running slicks at the track. (from what I know) ALL tracks require a DS loop with slicks.
