Default Need some quick help with a pulley

I'm installing my heads/cam, and also a alternator overdrive pulley to go with my underdrive crank pulley. How do I get the stock alternator pulley off and the new one on? Thanks.

You sell the overdrive pulley. Technically all you are doing is moving your underdrive elsewhere and cross cancelling it with the over-drive.

yeah but the net gain should still be there just not as high as it would if running a stock alternator pulley????

That's my understanding on it anyhow.

The overdrive is usually only needed for auto cars as they idle at a different speed and with a crank pulley may have trouble charging. M6 cars shouldn't have this issue however unless you have a low idle and abnormally high voltage drain at idle.

Best thing to do is leave the stocker on their, if you have charging issues then maybe switching to the overdirve pulley will be appropriate.

From Thunder Racing's website for ASP pulleys:

Stock Alternator Pulley - Most commonly used. Suitable for most applications.

Overdrive Alternator Pulley - Recommended for automatic cars to help bring alternator speeds back to near stock levels without sacrificing too much horsepower. Extremely important for vehicles with high accessory drag such as cars with lots of stereo modifications.

Underdrive Alternator Pulley - Recommended mainly for track use. Not recommended for daily street use due to low alternator charging.

Thanks for finding that. I wish I would have found that before I bought it.....

Thanks again.
