How much do shops charge?
How much do shops charge? how much do shops usually charge for putting in headers and a y pipe? i just got mine done and they told me 10 hours it took them. i was pist off because in the beginning they told me anywhere from 3-5 hours and now they double that.

i hear $500 is an expected price. shops around here charge $65. when i get it done, you best believe i'll be shopping around - not so much for price but for guys that consistantly work on f-bodies. i'll be going in with a set of questions. if they don't know the answers, they don't get the business. 10 hours is far too much time for a shop that does nothing but that type of work.
the place is a performance shop that works on dragsters. im guessing they never worked on an ls1 and underestimated it, but i could have prob done it myself in 10 hours.
Aside from the first time it takes me no more than 2.5 hrs and alot of time and hour less on f-body's. I have yet to do a set on a vette so that may take a little longer. Going out of the book for just standard manifolds would be around 4.5. But if you have done any at all you will quickly learn little tricks that make it alot faster.
