the less you tell parents about car mods the better, my parents didn't know I was doing something to my car until I got the motor puller out. they would ask what i doing when I told them they would just shake there head, they couldn't understand why i would tear apart a perfectly good running car.

I would go with what suggested above about the restocking fee and what not. And that this system is stainless so while it costs more now you'll be completely happy with this and it will last the life of the car. so you'll never have to mess with it again. instead of buying a cheaper one and swapping it down the road.

As some of you suggested, I can not lie to my parents and say the exhaust was only $350. I just can't. I paid for the exhaust with my own money as well as the insurance, gas, other modifications, and half of the car. I saw that a lot of you mentioned the restocking fee... She won't care about that. Maybe she'll let me keep the exhaust, but it will be locked up in the basement until I'm off to college. She somewhat conceded defeat after a couple months of me asking her for the exhaust...

Basically, she made me get an alarm installed first, which cost $300. Its probably the most pointless thing I've ever purchased, seeing that I live in a VERY safe neighborhood and I mean SAFE. My car is parked in the garage. I'm not taking the car up to college, so it will stay stored away for the fall and winter. And this brings up another point in my debacle. One of her arguements was, "Why do you want an exhaust if you're going away to college in September?" My arguement started and ended like this, "Well, think of it as a growing investment..." Boom headshot, I was done like dinner.

So even after installing the alarm and buying basic boltons and appearance "mods", window tints, decals, etc., she doesn't want me buying an $850 exhaust. She would definately let me buy a $400 exhaust, but not $850... Some of the responses have been good so far, but I'm still looking for that one professional article from any newspaper, website, or journal that described the positives about adding an exhaust to my car, especially the GMMG exhaust. Thanks for the help so far.
