Slipping drive belt could be an issue but hasn't been before...it's tight. We tuned for the Wieand last Saturday. Were throwing the LS6 on tonight an maybe tune this weekend. If the LS6 picks up the loss....the wieand will be off to ebay. Why would weiand produce a manifold that has to be ported to achieve the gain they are advertising. That's mainly why I choose the "Crap" terminology. If they say it "Flows 15% more than the Z06 Intake" I they need to specify "After Porting" and not waste my time and my friends money! I'll keep ya'll posted on the results...thanks again

If you lost Boost around 1.3 to 2 psi there's most of your power loss. As boost is around 20RWHP per Psi.. It took me 3 attempts to get my Weiand intake to seal up..

I do like the bling factor of this intake, but a poor job of casting the metal so it does not fit correctly on the valley cover bolts, the vac hose to the brake booster "WAY too close" to the engine oil pressue sending unit, if your not careful you could snap it off. The way the MAP sensor fits, = crap. I love this intake, I had it ported to match the heads, but it does get hot which does not help, through not hurt too much..

I went from 524RWHP 7psi of boost Ls1 Intake, stock compression, stock motor w/headers and loudmouth exhaust. Blew my #6 piston. Rebuilt the motor Went to 621RWHP with 11psi of boost, Poerted Weiand intake, stage 1 heads, hotcam, 9.1 to 1 compression, forged internals, 12 bolt rear end, same exhaust.

I now have more power with the 621RWHP, but the Cam choice was "okay", heads help, intake maybe helps, more boost helps.. Loosing compression hurts, and going 12 bolt hurts in RWHP measure..

All in all I really like the intake. but they could have done a better job of fitting it to the heads better and placing the holes + map sensor placement better as well..

Also I had to use a lot of High Temp silcone on both sides of the paper gasket to get the intake to seal up!

Your sig says it's ported...that probably made the grade for you. Ours was a factory cast. After we took it off...there was no evidence of a sealing problem...it fit fine..maybe we were lucky. The plate on the bottom was a portion we didn't seal. Anyway...we gained our 30 hp back...ofcoarse it was a beautiful 90+degree day with high humidity Boost was about the same with the LS6 intake which reinforces my view of the weiand. We've also realized that the dual ATI intercoolers are basically Pointless. Yes, they provide some measure of reducing the charge temps but only going down the road. They could have thrown some scoops on the damn things to replace the cheezy mud flaps. Also with the vents open under the running lights and above the intercoolers...the air fights for direction through them making them pretty inefficent! I think we're going for the single front mount and probably completly re-engineer the plumbing system. Bill's brother received his trans back from Bristol, PA's trans shop to find they had to rebuild it again after they left some gears with broken teeth in the trans...retards...so it was rebuilt again Fixed that issue! Atleast that's what we thought...it worked great until once again a problem...coming from TTP the Tailshaft bushing worked its way out....apparently it wasn't installed correctly. I would have had better luck throwing it together myself. Sorry for my rant...it's been a rough couple of days.

So bottom line.. Did you see any increase with the Aluminum Weiand intake over the Stock LS1 Intake??

My guess is no, as in many FI setup with lower boost like this, the intake will not make much of a difference. Via Weiand, LS1, LS6 or Fast Etc..

Higher boost levels, larger engines Stage 3 heads Etc. People running intakes with larger ports like the ported Weiand, Fast intake, and Sheet metal intakes will obviously see more power to the ground over the older stock LS1 Intake.. Right now. Your putting down close to the same power as the stock LS1 intake, not a suprise there. But you now have the "bling factor" which is the "real" reason you got this intake.

My Weiand equipped cam only '02 made 421rwhp. Pretty damned good to me. It should be just as good with the turbos I'm bolting on.

I love my Weiand and wouldn't trade it for anything.

I think that maybe in a NA application it works as advertised. In a forced application...the air is cookin' from the combination of discharge temps from the compressor and poor intercoolers. Heat soak...yes I said heat soak is more prominant throughout a forced app. than with NA. That's why you see these guys (NA) snap back and say...."No heat soak is BS" With NA, the intake air only travels about a foot to the manifold which explains the "little difference". With a blower, times that by 8 and factor in blower discharge temps and all that plumbing under the hood collecting that heat. What I'm getting at is yes NA heat soak is not really a factor...forced air...more than ya think. In higher boost levels the problem gets to be less of a factor with better intercoolers and maybe some alky when your makin' that kind of power. With all these mods on this car...you'd think we'd be in the 480's consistantly. Cam would probably help...that's next. Again....Thanks to all you guys for giving me suggestions and opinions on this issue. All of you is what makes this site the best on the web
