Default HP from A/C removal?

I am finishing up my cam install and was wondering if I left the A/C belt off I might see a little more speed or lower E.T's out at the strip? It makes sense that i would gain a little..

It takes very very minimal effort for the engine to spin the compressor pulley when it's off, you won't see any gains.

These guys are right. The a/c compressor has a clutch that unlocks when the a/c is turned off or you go WOT. You won't see any gains from removing it. Now removing the entire system will drop a little weight from the nose of your car and help out, but it then you sweat your *** off.

not enough to justify the added weight from all the sweat in your car. AC only matters when it's running to my knowledge. i feel like i'm towing a boat with it on.

Only reason to remove it is weight.

I have ran with it on and off...no difference really..it cuts out at full throttle.

Mine didn't shut down at WOT one day (faulty clutch or something), it blew chunks at about 6k rpms. Sounded like the car had thrown a rod. I've never been so worried in all my life lol. I opened the hood thinking it was blown for sure, then I noticed the accumulator was sweated up. I climbed back in the car, said my prayers, clicked off the a/c and the noise went away. I'd never been so happy to have a fried compressor before.
