loudmouth effeect the exhaust valves?
loudmouth effeect the exhaust valves? Thisa guy thats friends of my family is tryign to tell me not to put the slp loudmouth on my car because it will make the exhaust valves go bad on my car and that it will do more harm then good to my motor is there any truth to this

The answer is NO an exhaust is an exhaust the SLP LM won't affect it anymore than any other and NONE will make the exhaust valves go bad.

If you run an open header, it is possible to run enough exhaust by the exhaust valve quick enough to deform the exhaust valve and/or seat. However, with the back pressure afforded by any exhaust system prevents this from happening. In short, he's not totally off his rocker, but in this case, he's wrong.

I've heard of bending exhaust valves by cool air rushing into the port and rapidly cooling a smoking hot valve. I've seen people run plugs in the straight pipes on racing go-carts to prevent this, sounds mostly like a crock to me though.
