Default Crank pulley/bolt problem.

We did the heads and cam on my personal car this week. The install went well,...smooth, no problems. On the way home....I lost my AC. So,...the next day at work, on my lunch break, I bring the car in, to see what the problem is. Long story short, my bolt, for my crank pulley, had started to walk out, with the actual pulley itself. I don't think it will let it go all the way out, since the RACK is in the way. So...I fixed the problem.... and went on my way.

Later on that night....i'm in a drive thru...had to turn off the car cause the people on the mic couldn't hear me. On startup...I noticed I had no AC. I get home,...check under the hood,....and again,...the same freaking problem.

I honestly don't remember how many we've done but, we've done over 10 cam installs without ever anything happening like this.

It is a stock balancer pulley, with a NEW factory crank bolt,... When I fixed my problem the second time around, I did use a mild stage thread locker on the bolt, cause I didn't want it to happen again. Well it did.

Is my crankshaft bad? Maybe from a prior repair under warranty, before I purchased the car? The threads stripped? Or just some freak ****?

I really don't know. I am ordering the ARP crank bolt, and SLP pulley I guess on monday.

Any idea's?

Thanks in advance....J

Did you put it in like wrath-of-god tight? I'd pull it, grind down 2 sides of the old bolt and clean up the threads on it to make a thread chaser for the crank. Run it in and out a few times, blow all the **** out, then start fresh. 240 ft-lbs is a **** TON of tight-ness. I did mine the "tighten to 22 ft-lbs, then do 90*" method and it has not batted an eye.

Wow, thats not good. If the torque specs are correct and you streached it into place right...then something is up.
