No. They're Magnaflow/Carsound highflow cats.

BTW, congrats to the poster of this thread. Your car sounds GREAT! I should know though, since I have that exact same set-up on my '02. Granted, it's coming off for a Flowmaster true dual set-up in a couple of weeks...

Enjoy your new set-up,

Mike

I thought Kooks just came out with their own catalytic converters for their y-pipe and that their new cats actually flow better than the Magnaflow/Carsound cats.

All 3 of us tried putting it in, with no luck whatsoever. Dropped the oil filter hoping to get room, but it didn't seem to help. So we undid the big 18mm bolt in the motor mount and tried lifting the engine. The bolt didn't seem to come all the way out. So we got the engine up about an inch, still wouldn't slid in. Undid the tranny mount and jacked the back of the tranny hoping to tilt the engine a little and let it slide in. Nope. About this time, I'm ready to yak. I start having the BubbleGuts in the stomach. Nerves are getting to me. So we do the motor mount one more time. We jacked up it so high, the intake started to hit my strut tower brace. Held up, undid that, and continued. A couple of pumps of the jack and BOOM! It's in!!!

Everyone says that they have such a horrible time with the drivers side. It was the complete opposite for me. I spent over 6 hours getting the passanger side off and on and probably 1 1/2 hours getting the drivers side on and off. I didn't even remove my spark plugs... just unplugged the wires connected to them? Is it the type of headers that I ahve that allow me to do that or am I just lucky. I was hearing that you had to drop the motor and stuff. Got me all worked up lol.

Great man! Sounds like your install went just like mine. I got lucky and removing the oil filter was enough to get the driver side header in, no jacking on the engine necessary.

I also didn't mess with that EGR pipe. I was able to pull the manifold with EGR still attached out through the top.

Boy they sure do sound sweet though. I recommend a cutout in the I-pipe for setting off car alarms.

Congrats on your new setup. I am still debating on what setup I want to use. I love the stainless but the price is still out of reach for now. Can you fill the difference on the low in torgue?

I can feel a little diff in the low, but the high end it where it's pulling. I can feel a big difference from ~3500 RPM. Holy crap! Still on a stock tune. Low end it's hard not to just spin them like mad. One of the big "mind tricks" is the noise. You FEEL and KNOW you're going fast cause it's just so loud. A totally awesome, mind-blowing LOUD. Me and my friend went down to Columbus for a basic tune (Deletion of codes) on Sunday. He has stock manifolds/cats and a TSP Rumbler on his 98 TA A4. He was behind me for most of the way down, and ahead of me about 1/2 the way back. He said when I got on it, whether I was in front or behind him, it drowned out his radio and exhaust. All he could hear was my car. YES!!

As for my cam, stock bumpstick.

As for the price for stainless steel, it's expensive, but I don't want to by buying parts just to replace them later. I want to get what I want the first time and be done with it. Why spend $500 on Pacesetters/ORY that *MAY* end up rusting out or getting eaten through? I didn't want to risk spending my hard earned coin on something that won't last the life of the car.
