Default Coated or Header wrap????

Should I go ahead an buy coated headers for around $375-400 or buy Black headers for around $270, and then buy some header wraps for around $50 bucks? Also, whats the heat difference between coated an non coated? I've seen alot of F-body guys with header wrap, and some shops say their isn't a difference!!

I agree, no header wrap. Water will get under the wrap and rust the headers even faster. Spend the extra and go with coated.

To what degree are coated headers better than non-coated, non wrapped long tubes?

plus its 50 for a roll and everywhere i have talked to said its one rolls per header so its 100 extra anyway which would make them 370 vs. coated at 375

well, I can say that I was actually surprised at how much cooler the engine bay was with the coated headers (of course over stock manifolds). I know guys with painted sets and their engine bay was just as hot as with stockers...so that tells me that if I can tell a difference (and I can be very critical of products...and I was very sceptical of this claim), then obviously that heat is staying in the headers where it should be.

Another question is why do they make non coated headers since they build up more heat!!

Because they are cheap.

The coating helps prevent rust and looks too.
