Default B&B, Mecham or GMMG? Hmm....

I am going to be buying my cat back for my T/A and I can't decide on the exhaust for it. It is clearly about sound for me since the cat back doesn't make huge power gains.
I have heard the B&B and GMMG on LS1 sounds but nothing on the Mecham. I like loud but not too much drone. I will adding in some TPIS LT's soon as well. Any suggestions? Or if any of you have a sound clip on the Mecham that would be great! Thanks

Unfortunatly yeah I did. I may have missed something but only because I stopped reading after so many things on the hood and spoiler stuff. Can't find a sound clip on it anywhere. If you all have found something let me know man. Its almost go time. Plus the GMMG exhaust is now $700.
Hey is the Stainless Steel chambered exhaust the ssame as the GMMG? It sure does look like it.

I have B&B on my SS, it came with it, it had mecham tips on it but i had to take them off. I really like the sound, not too loud but sounds good (does have some rasp but i have lt's and no cats).

I'm into the GMMG, heard nothing good about Mecham products. Their tips would look nice on my Hawk though.

Why not look into the Borla?
The GMMG is good but overrated and since you're getting LT's it'll become unbearable loud and have a lot of rasp.

I had B&B on my car, but it was really quiet, especially if your not going to be running Longtubes. But now that im putting longtubes on this week i wish i would have kept it on, oh well what can ya do. Just get an electric cut-out, quiet when you want it to be and loud when you want it to be, and it accually sounds really good with just manifold and cats, mines open everytime i drive it now, but will probly be to loud when i put the pacesetters on for just cruising.

GMMG has one of the best sounding exhausts.
I have hunted all over for the place for a mecham sound clip... no luck either.

maybe send them an email and see if they have any sound clips on file.

No thanks...2 of our members have a Borla exhaust setup(set on kill)an LS1 thats has LT, Patriot head and cam and some other work and honestly I do not like it at all. My other guy has it on his 96 LT1 with the LT's and I still do not like it. Sounds too....can't describe it but I hate the way it sounds.
I emailed them a while back and didn't get no sound clip. Too bad.
I am planning on running no cats of course. I also played with mid length Mac's or Pacesetters for clearance when I lower the car a bit. If I went that way I would stay with cats. Hmmm.......

Listen to this guy. I'm planning on running cats and a GMMG. If I were going to go ORY, then I would probably get a Dual/Dual (rasp would be minimal).

You need to figure out exactly what your set-up will be before throwing money around.

borla gets even raspier without cats. IMO the borla is the worst sound on an LS1. not a fan at all. it sounds like a boat. just my opinion though.

i'd say GMMG out of all of them easily. it's easily the best flowing of the 3. in fact, i hear B&B is restrictive to the levels of even the flowmaster 80 series. i cannot verifiy this, however. it's just what i have heard.

what i can verify is GMMG is as straight-through and as free-flowing as they come. the only exhaust more straight-through is the SLP loudmouth.

I have the GMMG, it is absolutely awesome. Out of every exhaust, and I have heard all of them, I went with GMMG. It does rasp with the ory at about 2500-3000 rpm. All I find is myself keeping it in a lower gear just to listen. I constantly get comments on how awesome the car sounds, CONSTANTLY! Head and cam on the way it should sound 100 times more bad ***, and the rasp will be gone.
