Default LS6 install Question.

About to order some block off's from thunder racing...what are the exact parts that I need? There's about 4-5 things That are listed as EGR block off plate's and accessories. I don't want to order $50 worth parts if I only need two things. Anything else I should pick up to complete the install? Thanks.

If you're just puttin on an LS6 that doesn't have EGR, you need 1 blockoff plate, for the EGR on the exhaust manifold.

You also need the rear coolant plugs and front coolant pipe from GM, or you can make one out of your old one for free, I'll post pics when I get home.

Check out LS1howto.com for more info.

Awesome, I bought the plugs I believe from TSP after I bought the intake. I've also read the Install how-to a bunch of times but for some reason can't build up the courage to dig into the project.

Did you get the plugs AND the front pipe? You can't simply block off all 4 corners with plugs.

I installed one this weekend for a guy, took about 3-4 hours taking breaks because of the blistering heat. This car also had a TNT F1 kit that was a pain the *** to work around.

My best suggestion is to take the coil pack plug off (main plug), along with the injector plugs, and get the wiring harness back out of the way. Then you can remove the fuel rail seperately, or the intake with it still attached, whichever you think's easier.

I found removing the rail first was easier, but I'm wierd.

You'll need a 3/8" fuel line disconnect tool from the autoparts store too BTW, don't forget that little biotch.

Haha, Thanks again.

I bought the plugs AND the pipe from TSP. I said, "give me everything I'll need" but had no knowledge of the EGR delete I was facing. Thanks for the extra tips and my brother's a volvo tech so maybe I can borrow one of those tools from him.. Thanks dude.

disconnect the AIR hose at the back... otherwise when you go to take out the intake, you'll run the risk of breaking the Oil Pressure switch which is mounted vertical on the back of the block, and its easy to break it, I did.

I've removed like 20 of them without breaking the sensor. What happens to most people is they get excited when it's unbolted, then yank her out. If you pick up the rear of the intake manifold, the brake booster hose will clear the sending unit and it will come out without a hitch.

yes.. BUT.. if you're new and have never done it.. and dont know whats back there by NOT reading a manual (chiltons, haynes, GM).. you wont see it..

there is also a small vacuum line on the back, kind of towards the left side, that needs to be removed, as well as uncliping the Oil pressure switch sensor, and the sensor on the back of the intake.
