daily driven in chicago winters with all that road salt, you shouldn't be considering anything but stainless. you're pretty much out $800 if you want headers. in your case, i firmly believe mild steel headers would be a mistake. i can't accurately give you a time frame since i have never driven an LS1 with pacesetters in chicago winters. i can just tell you in your case, it's better to be safe than sorry - because most likely, you'll be sorry

Daily drove my LT1 with jet hots in the winter, through all the salt, slush, and other crap. NJ isn't the worst with winters, but it was no picnic. Held up fine. I would imagine winters in a city is a little worse, but I can't say for sure.

When people pop the hood and see those stainless primaries, they know you're not ******* around.

I like my Kooks, but they were a son-of-a-bitch-x2 to install. The 1-3/4 are not that bad, but I went absolutly ape **** trying to stick my 1-7/8's in.
