Default LS6 Intake Vacuum Fitting removal?

Any ideas on how to remove this vacuum fitting on the back of the manifold? It easily moves just a little but acts like there is a key or a release that needs to be tripped to rotate it. I can see if from the throttle body opening at the other end of the manifold but nothing looks like a release mechanism.

Any ideas? I don't mind damaging the vacuum fitting, but obviously don't want to hurt the intake.

Thanks,
Mike R.

it has two clips on either side on the inside... even when I was able to access both of the clips with my hands/tools, I still broke one of the clips getting it out. (I blew the whole back of my intake out with a nitrous backfire... that's the only reason I was able to access the clips)

If you don't mind damaging the vacuum fitting, i'd suggest just breaking the whole elbow off (or maybe cutting it with a small saw) and then you'd be able to access the inside clips to get them loose and remove the rest.

Why are you so insistent on removing the elbow?

simple - I'm working out of town and my carry-on suitcase is one vacuum fitting short of getting the manifold onto the plane. With the vacuum fitting out, it fits the suitcase. I don't want to check it in for fear of something larger piled on it or the airlines loosing it.

It's way too hot in Vegas to work in the garage to paint it but if I can take it up north to WA State, then I have evenings and this coming weekend to sand it and paint it. I can do the whole job in the hotel room (and balcony) before I come back in a couple of weeks. I can buy the adhesion promotor, primers, paint, clear, and polishing compound up there.

I'm VERY frustrated with knowing what to do on my conversion but not being able to work on the car because I'm a 1,000 miles away! Looks like the easiest way to do this is to cut the fitting off, then take it out, then put in a new one.

thanks for the info!

I tried to buy the vacuum fitting but the dealer said it is a part of the manifold and can't be bought separate. Since the LS6 manifold is $710 retail, it looks like I better be REAL nice to that fitting!!

Anybody know where to get the fitting??
