Heater core replacement
Very nice write-up Viper BUT this is the genIII external section. Your info is vehicle specific-in this case Firebird (F-body).
SO, I've done you the honor of making your info a sticky in the Firebird section. I tweaked it up a bit and included a few things noted by Dave.

Thank you Paul for moving this over. This is a Godsend DIY instructional. Along with spark plug replacement this is a much feared repair.
I have a 2001 FireHawk with 30K and I know this is a winter project that is overdue. I also have the GM clamp remover but even then it can be almost impossible to get the right position to expand those clamps. Everyone make sure you aren't cutting corners too close by not replacing the old heater core lines that run from the front thermostat area. You don't want to have to repeat his exercise ever again.
