First Mod
I have a 98 Camaro SS, that is stock besides a K&N air filter, flowmaster muffler, and skip shift eliminator. I'm looking to make my first mod, any suggestions. I'm looking to spend around $300. I was thinking a SLP cold air intake, what do you think?

Lid=$100 new (which ever brand/style you like), cutout-$50 installed. Those would be my first two. Then you might want to check into a ported throttle body, or pull yours off and do it yourself.

He stole the words right out of my mouth. You should be able to do a lid, cutout and Ported TB for $300. With these mods you wil feel a difference.

Cutouts are cheaper but id still prefer to have a good sounding catback, also depending what state you are in they can fail you for your inspection b/c of a cutout, and YES ive been failed b4 for having a cutout it sucked

Yeah go for a nice catback. Sure its not much for performance but the sound just makes it a different car. It'll cost you a little more than 300 but its well worth it. Magnaflow is prolly the best bet for budget.

cut-outs rule! I've never heard a catback that sounded better than my cut-out, and I've never seen one for sale for less than 3 times the amount I paid for the cut-out, shipping, and installation.
I'll also say lid, even get a used one if you want. And then with the left overs either a ported tb, save up for subframe connectors, or save up for gears/converter depending on A4/M6.

What I would do first
anything free should be first, free ram air mods, slp ram air system, descreening the stock maf, smooth bellow, ported tb s2,u/dpulley,ls6 intake manifold no egr then headers ory true duals, and professional tune. Thats what I would do first. If youve got the money.

well man, first id check to see what your local law or state emissions will allow. why spend all that money just to fail emissions and have to take all that back off the car. if you just want fast, get a 100 shot of nitrous. kits start about $450- $550. if you want sound, get a cat back. if you want a better mix, the lid and cutout is probably the way to go. any extra $$, port your own tb and get some under drive pullies.

Well, if you can find a good price for a LS6 intake that is in your price range. That will be good for your car for a long time to come no matter what other mods you have planned in the future. And it will add the same if not more HP for you than the lid, TB, and Cutout combined.

wow i totally by-passed the part where you said you only looking to spend $300, in that case still do the free ram air mods and then the lid, go to part store get a 3" peice of ferntec i think its called for the bellow and the get your tb ported, plugs and wires, and cutout.
