Default I found out why the ebay headers were so cheap.

I noticed my car was sounding like a sewing machine lately so I turned the car on and popped the hood. I saw the EGR tube rattling so I touched it with a rag to stop the rattling and was going to rev the car up a little to see if that was the noise I was hearing. Well as soon as I touch it it moves over like 2 inches and im like wtf. So I gently wiggle it back and the ****** breaks off. Ill take pictures of it when I take the damn header off this weekend to have the hole patched up. Anyway in the mean time, is it alright If I drive it with this big exhaust leak?

I wouldn't drive it with a hole that large in the header. Only a matter of time before the PCM will try to compinsate for the loss of o2 reading and it may end up damaging you motor. That blow, post up some pics...

The ol' "you get what you pay for" comes true once again. I was just waiting for something to come up.

Sorry, that sucks.

Im happy with what I bought as long as the welds at the collector and the flange dont go, which I dont think they will. Ill figure out what really happened once I pull the header off. It definately didnt break at the weld so I dont know what could have happened to it.

Thats the EGR pipe that is welded to the header. As you can see Ive got a block off plate on there. I wont be able to get a pic of the header itself until I can pull it off this weekend or see if I can get the car up in the air and try and take a look at it.

While im not trying to make excuses, this same thing has happened to even the BIG ticket header manufacturers as well. Paying 3 times as much dosnt even guarantee you wont break the EGR off.

Really the EGR tube breaks with the other headers?

I DIDNT keep my emissions stuff. That was the plan but when I was putting them back on I said **** bending tubes and threw that **** in my front yard. If you look closely in the pic you can see my block off plate.

I have heard dozens of stories of this happening with all brands. One of the reasons i decided not to keep my enissions stuff 3.5 years ago, back when i still had to pass a visual and a sniffer in NYS.

Same thing happened on my buddy's Pacesetters. He called them up, sent them a pic and they replaced it no questions asked.

This does happen a lot. The real question is how/if they will back up their product.

Theres a chance it will happen if you !egr and use a plate. Its not a big tube and its long. Its designed to have a hose on the uother hose connected to it. This prevents the thing from wigglin back and forth. When you take away the suport at the other end and add mass to it your pushing the boundaries of metal and fatiguing it. It happened to my headers as well. That tube is too long and too thin with too much weight on the end to be vibrating back and forth and not break.

I'm waiting for a primary to fall of one of those bargain pipes.
