Default LS6 Head and Cam packege.

Hello Guys, got a question for you.
Does GM Performance LS1 to LS6 convertion with the heads and cam realy make 405 Horses? Is it on the wheel or on the crank?
Does it worthed or are there better options?
I have the 2001 LS1 in my 67 Camaro and like to improve the power little bit more.
I figured should get your opinion on this bec. there is no other place then this about LSX engines.
Thanks
Ismail

i think its 405 to the crank. you'd be better off with cnc ported ls6 heads and another cam like a 224 duration.

Yeah. I don't have much personal/technical experience. But from the knowledge I've gathered researching these motors. The heads are mostly decent. You can make some big power with different cams. But like others have said, you're better off working with some ported&polished heads in addition to a cam.

Also, I'd assume the 405hp is rated at the crank if this is what the z06's were rated at for flywheel hp.

What would be that at the wheel?
The reason I want this is that it is reliable. I'm not after a very lumpy racey sounding motor.
Any suggestion about LS6 ported and assembled head and cam combo which would be reliable and sound not so lumpy?
Thanks

I have an '03 LS6 in my car and yes, the 405 is at the flywheel. I dyno'd at 373 to the wheels. You could certainly make more power from some ported heads and a different cam or just a different cam for that matter, but if the price is right, go for it! I'm real happy with my set up. My car's a daily driver, 200+ miles a week rain or shine, sleet or snow and sarts and idles perfectly every day hot, cold or otherwise. As an added bonus even with a converter and 3.73's I get around 17 MPG and run 12.20's in the 1/4 @ 111 MPH! This is at 3656 lbs. with me in it! Bottom line, concider what your going to use the car for and do what makes you happy. Although, more power would certainly make me happy! Lol!
