02 camero engine numbers stamped on block
I installed a 02 camero LS1 into a 36 chev, now the time has come to title the car and they have asked me for the engine # 's stamped on the block,, there is none, it looks like maybe they have been machined off, but not from decking the block, did these motors have these motor #'s? I bought the engine from a wrecking yard, and they claim that they did not remove any #'s and the engine susposably had 36 K miles,, altho they did install the heat sensitive buttons to show if the motor gets hot, for warranty purposes,,
thanks Bill

See the attached picture for the VIN# location. This is on a f-body LS1 engine. The engine in the picture is a ls6 block and the number is on a machined area of the block. The ls1 blocks are not machined in this area and the numbers are very hard to read.
I have a couple of GTO LS1 & LS2 engines and I have not been able to find any VIN# on them.

They are hard to find even on a clean block but you should be able to find it with what the responses. If you can't then you may have a rouge block from a theft recovery where it might have been filed off. May want to check with the wrecking yard if it comes to that.
And yes, it bothers everyone when Camaro is misspelled - happens quite offen, not a big deal
