Default hey moderators, got a ?

so every time i wash my motor i get misfires like crazy... everybody i talked to about it said wash it with it running. WELL i do so and finally find a thread that says dont wash a hot motor with cold water... so what do you think i did???? i heard a loud pop and i thought i cracked my head but i think it was water hitting the headers and evaporating so fast that it made kind of a "poof" yea you know what it sounds like.... so what could have happened??? it only had misfires one time around the block after this too

also, i have true duals and i was watchin it run afterwards and it kept gettin a white puff on the left side but it went away so im thinkin maybe THAT was a misfire, just hoping its not a cracked coolant tunnel

Washing your engine while it is hot is a bad idea. hitting a hot engine with a burst of relatively cold water will cause the temperature of the metal on the exterior to cool too quickly and might cause a crack to form in the heads/block/header/etc.

Also, water is a very good conductor unless you are using de-ionized water. This could cause bad readings in the sensors that are getting wet which might cause your misfire issue.

In general wash your engine while it is cold and off. Then wait for the water to dry before turning the engine back on.

I'm confused, sounds like you are saying it misfires for a little while after each time you washed it but it stops misfiring? Also, why are you directing your questions to the moderators? Like stated above, never wash a hot engine and never wash an engine while it's running.
