Default Idle problem with ported TB

So I decided to port my stock TB. I didn't have enough sanding discs for the dremel so I got out some porting bits and an air grinder (I'm not very patient either). I went a little too crazy near the line I drew for the TB blade but no major gouges. If I hold it up to the light I can see little cracks of light between the blade and TB throat.
I put it back on the car and fired it up. Normally the car will idle at 1000rpm all the time (Whats the normal idle speed? Maybe I'm stuck in open/closed loop?) but this time it idles at 1500rpm when it starts up. I thought "crap I didn't think i'd be sucking that much through the little gaps" but after a couple seconds the throttle starts blipping lightly (I'm not touching it) and every time, it raises up about 200rpm and finally stops at 2100rpm. After a few seconds I shut it off. I waited about 10 seconds, restarted it and it acted totally normal, regular idle, etc.
I drove it around a little, got on it a few times, and it acts normally.
What the hell was that?

After that initial freak-out it had it's run normal so I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens.
Not sure why it's always idled at 1000rpm since I got the car (about 1000 miles ago, it's got 83K on the clock total). What is the stock idle supposed to be? My 5.3L truck idles at 600rpm.

Your IAC can compensate for quite a bit. As long as it's not past the range of the IAC you'll be fine.

I had the same issue when I did my TB (minus the extra cutting).

The car learned its new idle after a while and I've had no other problems. Some of my issues had to do with a hose that was not replaced and I found a tiny tear in the bellows from the MAF to the TB. I put the hose back on (Doh!) and repaird the tiny hole.

No more problems and it idles where it always has (750-800).

That sucks! I agree with everyone else,...It should correct itself. But if it doesent',...alot of people are nerviouse about the JB Weld but I swear by it. As long as it has a grainy surface and not a smooth to bond to nothing should come off.

Good luck

It seems to work fine now, I guess it was just learning the new idle. So 1000rpm idle isn't unusual for a M6 car?
