Default Wiring Question for EWP

For those of u who have the Meziere EWP, do you recommend connecting the trigger to the fuel pump wire and then installing a manual override switch? Or would u wire the trigger to a pink wire (wire that is triggered by putting the key to the on position) AND having a manual override switch.

I would assume that it would be most logical to tap the trigger to the fuel pump wire so that the EWP is on when the car is on. And when you are in the staging lanes, or wanting to have it on whenever else, you would have the manual override for that purpose.... I guess what im tryin to get at, is... isnt wiring the trigger to the pink wire pretty much a manual overide for when the engine is not running? It seems dumb to me to wire the trigger switch to be on when the key is in the on position, when you can just have a manual override switch. I know this thread is probably hard to understand, but im tryin to word it right.

I guess it seems to be a waste of battery life to have the trigger wired to the "on" position, when u can have a manual override switch to just draw straight from the battery to the pump. If anyone has any other opinions othersiwe, id like to know, thanks.

Installed my EWP 2 months ago, I used the wire up on ls1howto.com.

So I tapped into the pink wire within the fuse box, which turns the pump on when the key in teh ignition hoes to ACC or I've started the car.

I also mounted an over-ride switch in the engine bay, within the fuse box area...so like you said, at the track - I can have the car shut off, but flip the switch (with the hood open) and run the pump.

Good setup for the most part. But 2 things I'd like to change, but just done know how - yet:

1. I'd like to tap into a wire for a trigger to start the EWP when the car is actually Started, vs. the Key in Acc or Start.

2. I'd like to add a light inside the car, that would light up when the pump is not functioning. I dont simply mean when the pump doesnt get power, but in case the pump actually fails...for any reason. How could I set something up to detect that?

Any thoughts on those two Q's?

Ok, well i believe they said if u dont want the pump to turn on in the ACC position, then u hook it up to the grey fuel pump line... I believe the fuel pump turns on for 3 seconds during the ACC position then turns off. It then turns back on when u start the car. Some tuners preferred this method because apparently tuning requires the key to be in the ACC position while being tuned, and the EWP drained the battery, so they tapped it to the fuel pump wiring. I hope that helps. It explains better in the C5 EWP wiring chart on ls1howto.com

The only thing I can think of in terms of adding a light to the car would be to hook up a light switch to the relay-to-fuse box wire. I wouldnt know what to get exactly though.

Ah, okay - I didnt know about that information about the fuel pump.
I'll get back under my hood this weekend, and look for that grey fuel pump wire and tap into that.

...and yeah, the main reason I'd want to wire like this, instead of EWP on at ACC is becuasing of tuning. No unneeded electronic should powered on when flashing the PCM.

Damn, your right about the updated information on ls1howto in the C5 section! I wish I had know about that before I went splicing into the pink wire as described in the f-body section.

Thanks
