Default OEM spark plug wires

I bought some borg Warner spark plug wires, that are OE style. should I have bought a better performance one?

Also if so should I get the AC delco OEM ones or whatever the OEM ones were? or get MSD? or are the Borg/Warner wires good enough?

imo, I have alsways used the stock ls6 wires and they (imo) work a whole lot better than the msd's. the tr55's do not come pregapped and even if the box says they are. most of the time they are wrong anyway. alway better to double check anyway. check twice, intall once not vice versa

It is always a good idea to get a set of feeler gauges and check the plugs. It might come "pre-gapped", but have you ever dropped a spark plug a few inches from a hard surface? No telling how those boxes were originally handled since they left the plant.

I put ls2 plug wires on my car. I like them because they are red.

They were free.

It's such a short run I don't think it really matters (accept for the 3mm ebay ones)

I would use them.

How did the LS2 wires go in? Do you like them? I'm getting ready to put headers in and will swap in new plugs and wires during the install. I've heard that the LS2 wires seem to fit better because of the angled boot. Do they fit better?

Thanks,
Marc

None of those after market wires can beat the stock factory wires. When you start making 600+ RWHP you'll need some better wires.

My 8 1/2 year old stock wires work better than the Taylor Thunderbolt 10.4mm wires I had on there, and thats on a 436ci stroker engine.

I like them because they are easier to pull off. They don't have that metal shield at the bottom and that spring. The stock LS1 spark plugs are a joke. They shouldn't be that hard to pull off.

The LS2 wires are long enough. On one of them the boot for the spark plug wire actually touches the header. Its been 1100 miles since I put it with with a few rather long drives and it has yet to even show any signs of melting.

I give them two thumbs up.

Always for me, I've gotten best results with the ACDelco stock wires....I ran the MSD wires and was getting alot of stereo interference, so Iswitched back to the stockers and it went away.FWIW

I actually went to different auto parts stores and tested the resistance of the brands they had available. They were all very high resistance wires! However, I don't think it makes much of a difference for a mostly stock motor...just food for thought though. MSD's are very low resistance and depending on where you purchase them, cost about the same as any other brand of wires you might find at the store. Usually you can get some factory wires for super cheap from various places (LS1tech, junkyards, etc.). My stock wires with 100k miles on them still had really low resistance. I only replaced them because two of them were toast. I'd post a link to the thread with my findings but I don't remember it off hand and search is being temperamental AGAIN. :wtf:
