header install OK, so i ordered pacesetter quick trip long tube armor coated headers and a texas speed catted-y this weekend. When i go to do the install with a friend who is much more experienced than myself, is thier anything else i need to buy before-hand? Do they come with everything in the box? Do i need 02 sensors or extensions? I already ordered prothane motor mounts and plan to install those at the same time. thanx!!
Smart move on the mounts, I wish I had done that. What you'll need:
EITHER 2 24" extensions, OR a 24" and 12" (few have done it, I personally haven't) extension (one each), OR 13111 corvette 02 sensors (apparently you don't need extensions with them. Either 02 sims or a quick computer tune to remove your rear 02 sensors (or just put up with the SES light till you get a real tune, what I did). Can reuse your stock bolts, just clean 'em up a bit. I think that's it, if I forgot something I'm sure someone will come in and let me know... have fun with the install

^^^ thanks totally forgot. Stock GM ones work fine or you can go get some fancy ones (no experience with them). It depends on sims, I've seen people pass, and people fail (consensus passes from what I've see). When are you due up for inspection? Do you have plug in test, or the standard sniffer one? And correct on the extensions, I got two 24" ones and just tightened the slack.

It's possible, but the y-pipe would have to have bungs put in (easy job for a muffler shop I'd assume). My friend did it with his LT1 actually, had a 97 so it was dual cat. He had LTs and catted y. Definitely sounds like a possibility

You may want to think about getting a set of plugs, and some plug wires, just in case you break one (or more) during the removal, better than having to either walk to the parts store or bum a ride from someone, and if you don't use them you can always take them back and get a refund

have fun with them ******* motor mounts....man it makes me angry thinking about changing them again. Dont use the pacesetter gaskets....at all.....dont even think about it....ever.....seriously. Just use the gm gaskets, 1,000 times better. For the front 02 sensors go to autozone or some **** and order rear o2 sensors from the vette...bosch 3111 or 3111 or some **** like that. That way you dont need to make extensions or any of that bullshit.
