How to Louden an Exhaust?
As for getting which kind of Y-pipe, this covers a few things.
- If your state requires cats, its easier to keep them so you can smog and be legal. I am learning the hard way as I have to swap mine ory out to smog.
- You are looking to louden your exhaust. Taking out the cats will increase the rasp of the exhaust, as well as create a more raw exhuast note. This may be what you want. If it is, then get your choice of ORY pipes available. 3" preferably.
- Keeping the cats and getting a catted- Y, will keep the car legal, create less rasp in the exhaust note, and muffle the tone a bit compared to an ORY. If this is what you would like, get a catted-Y.
My Opinion-- You have an SLP LM catback. I haven't owned one but from all of posts I have read on here about this catback (which is alot), the people that have them say that it sounds awesome with cats, but when they install LTs and an ORY it becomes to obnoxious because you are just running a resonator for a muffler. So my advice is to get the LTs but keep CATS on there. You will have a killer setup!
