Ok, i'll leave the ported one on for this tank, then switch and give ya the results. It won't hurt that orange gasket in ther to keep switching them will it? By the way, i'm really close to you, I live in Newport News.

No, but it was on until I ditched the SLP MAF for the stock MAF.

pfft i'm in the same damn boat as you, man. i put in a FTRA - you know, the kit that's supposed to give you 5%-10% better fuel economy - and i lost ~2 mpg. i used to get ~180 miles til the center slash of the fuel gauge. now, i'm consistently hitting ~150 miles at the spot. it's been ever since i put it in, at that exact tank. i've had my battery disconnected, too, since i've changed my fuel filter since then. i used to get 21-22 mpg on my horrible city driving work commute. now, i'm home on back roads and i get ~19 mpg. i don't know what the hell is wrong

Yeah, if I can't figure it out, it'll be so long ported TB. I won't sacrifice lots of mpg for 10 or less hp.

pfft i wanted to port mine, now i'm having second thoughts. i have a feeling i just need a tuning after the FTRA. perhaps it screwed up my air/fuel ratio? unfortunately, i won't be getting a tune anytime soon since i want headers first, which won't be happening anytime soon

i'm about to go check all my sensors and clean them off. maybe that'll happen over the weekend...

I just seafoamed(Minus the oil. Waiting till closer to change time to do that). I'm hoping it will help. If not i'll prolly just put the stock tb back on with the SLP maf and try to sell this ported tb.

yeah seafoaming was definitley a good idea. You might also want to get some maf cleaner from napa and clean your maf sensor.

Ok, at this point i'm pretty confident that the ported TB is affecting my mileage. Therefore, 'm switching back to the stock tb and SLP MAF. I'll probably go back to the ported tb sometime in the future once I do more mods that need a tune, but it's not worth the $ to tune just for the ported tb, IMO.

wait did you switch back to your stock maf when you ported your throttle body, or have you always had the slp on their?

Actually a full-on stock car can benefit from a tune.

I went back to the stock MAF, cause the SLP MAF with the ported TB was tripping codes for system too lean. So, in reality, it's prolly the SLP MAF tricking my computer that's upping my mileage, but there's now way right now that I can run the ported TB and get the same mileage as with the stock TB and SLP MAF. Once I start tuning i'll go back to the stock MAF/ ported TB. Speaking of tunes, a local shop has a Dynojet chassis dyno. They charge $100 for 3 runs with air/fuel, is that a good price?

they adjust your air/fuel ratio and give you three dyno pulls for $100? i wish i knew a shop around my house that did that. i'd do it in a heartbeat!

yeah definitley a good price. Yeah your probley getting worse gas milage cause your car runs leaner with the slp maf, and stock tb oposed to the stock maf, and ported tb.
