Default made a mistake buying SLP headers...

I just got done installin my SLP LT headers....and i have to say that i made a mistake buying them, i knew they would hang low and i didnt really care about that becuase the roads here are nice, well my brother got me a deal on them in michigan for 225 dollars. So i got em...well the driver side wasnt bad to put in but the passenger side was a big pain. I got them installed but i have to say i am very dissapointed in them. SLP says to just slide them in....id love to see them slide it in my car. I am verry mad. I had nothing but problems today, and now my X-pipe i bought is not fitting either.

haha yeah, i dont really care about them hangin low, i dont think they are to bad because the roads here are smooth, it just made me exteremly mad installing that passenger side. It def wasnt worth saving a couple hundred dollars. i wish i would have went with some pacesetters.

if you think the roads are fine and you don't plan on lowering, you should be fine but in all honesty every car is different installing every brand of headers.... and yes people have been known to have to do modifications for top notch Kooks/QTP's just to fit

Dont feel bad I have a SLP LM,Predator and brand new slp cai unit all sitting here doing nothing.Actually not bad stuff but I have Kooks headers,ORY so loud mouth was just to much so I got a magnaflow. Then I got hP tuners so dont need SLP Predator anymore and I have a SSRA so when I bought SLP flow pac I didnt use the CAI part.
But its ok I was a nembie I will sell it if some one wants any of it!

I feel your pain. It took us all day (on a lift) to get those puppies in there. I installed them in 2001. 5 years later, I've had zero problems. They make good power, still look practically brand new, no leaks, no rattles, and I've probably just barely scraped them 5 times in five years. I'm not complaining anymore, and I have no plans to swap them out. Personally, I think you got a pretty good deal.

Man for another 150 you could have gotten Pacesetters and wouldnt have the problems you had.....mine went in quite easily.

Buddy of mine has put them on his car as well...He actually did his and then helped me with mine.
Sorry to hear your bad luck on that. I really dont htink I will purchase anything from SLP, I havent heard all that many great things about them since I started here on Tech.

ive got nothing bad to say about slp either , my headers give me no problems and for that matter neither does my lid , no rubbing on the hood and fits like a glove . they do hang a bit low but they are quality headers and for the price you got you cant go wrong . as far as your x-pipe , that a custom thing and would have to be adjusted to fit different styles of headers any way , not really slp's fault .

What would make you think a pre-fabbed X pipe would fit SLP longtubes?

I went with Pacesetter LT and TSP true duals (sweet thunder). Headers were alot easier than I thought, Now the exhuast was a different story. I hooked it up the way then had marked it and it hung so low that it grabbed an extension cord laying on the floor as I was backing out of the garage, had to re lift it got to looking at it then took it off and turned the x pipe upside down then got alot better clearance, its still real low prolly only 3-4" but better than just 1".

Well im farley new to the ls1 world but when i bouht it from Texas speed it says it works on long tube LS1s so i figured it would work but maybe only works with other headers. The SLPs are a little shorter so im goin to try to do some stuff today to make it work.

My SLP's don't drag, I have the whole system. Only other system I would have even considered was the SLP LT's with highflow cats and Xpipe and sweet thunder chambered. Sweet Thunders are bad ***.
