When is my RWHP restricted with this exhaust setup?
But to answer the original question, and somewhat against the grain, MACs have been shown to give near idential peak hp numbers, but they giveup a handful of midrange tq. Again this is from straight back-to-back dynos, of which I don't have the graph with me.
However, MAC cats have been shown to be as restrictive as stock cats. And as long as you have a good y-collector, a 2.5" y-pipe to 3" collector is good for bolt on applications.
Superturbos have a 'S' curve internally, so they are slightly more restrictive than a straight through muffler. What I would do to save some coin, is just replace the muffler with a Magnaflow or Ultaflow muffler and be done with it.
So, to add a fourth option, have a custom y-pipe made with carsound highflow cats, and keep your MACs. The money saved in swaping them out may not be worth the few extra midrange hp you will see on a dyno.
Does anyone know the exact part-number of the cats used in the pacesetter y-pipe from TSP or the cfm rating per cat?
I will probably still go with option 3 mainly because the mac's are so rusted that I don't think sanding and painting/coating them would be possible, that and I'm a bit of a perfectionist(OCD) and like things to be well put together instead of pieced together as is my current setup.
