Default Modding Advice???

I have a '98 WS6. I am going to start purchasing some of the 'regular' bolt ons, along with a cam. Right now, I have shortie headers with no cats, and Borla exhaust. I just recently installed a new RAM HD clutch, pressure plate, along with a new stock flywheel. For whatever it is worth, I also have a WS6Store short shifter, with a HURST T-Handle, with roll control.

My question is mainly about the FAST intakes. I have seen the ones for a 78MM throttle body and for a 90MM throttle body. At some point, I will be changing the cam and possibly heads. Should I go with a 90MM throttle body and intake?

I know that there is no 'right' way or 'best' part. However, I would like to make educated decisions when purchasing my performance parts.

Thanks in advance for the advice!!

The FAST 90/90 is a bit overkill for a NON h/c motor, but would be more of a benifit once you DO add the H/C... The FAST intake make about (I think) 10 more HP over the stock LS6. I am not sure on what basis and mods they were comparing the manifolds on. You'd be sacrifising some HP until you get the H/C... if you were to do the FAST 90/90 before the H/C.

I have heard that the FAST 90/90 really shines when you Stroke/h/c...

I'd just do the LS6 for now... it'll be good for a while..

Wait on the FAST 90 intake until you do the H/C package. Start with the Free mods, Lid, Longtubes, etc..

Are there any websites that can explain how to 'port' a stock TB?

Check EBAY for the LS6 Intake. Most of the parts vendors sell them too. Check on the main page w/ the list of vendors on the right.

Texas speed
Tbyrne motorsports
Afterthoughts auto -MIGHT have it
WS6 Store
Thunderracing
Speed Inc. /aka LS1Speed.com ($450 thru them)

Check www.Installuniversity.com They might have some info on it. You could also do the bump stop mod while you got that dremel and TB in your hand. -You'll need a multimeter for that, tho.

IF you are going to get H/C eventually then why waste the extra money on an LS6 intake? I am going to get the FAST 90/90 before i get h/c only cause i know ill be getting h/c eventually and i dont want to waste any money on something i know ill just replace later... just my opinion. You wont lose THAT much hp if anything with the 90/90.

Get the Fast 90/90 setup. Especially cuz you will be going with a set of heads in the future to go with your cam.

Dont spend money 2 different times on intakes

FAST 90 with a NW or PTM TB (FAST 90mm TB is junk). This will easily out perform a LS6 intake by 15-25rwhp on a cammed or h/c/ setup. If you are serious about getting a cam or more, then I personally wouldn't waste money on buying a LS6 first. People who tell you different are generally trying to cover up because they didn't get a 90/90 setup.

Fair do a FAST 90 will only see minimal gains over a LS6 on a stock motor because a FAST 90 will show its abilities above 5500rpm and a stock motor is out of puff by 6000rpm.

But you won't loose anything by going FAST 90 it will just cost you double.

Texas Speed & Performance and Thunder Racing have most of what you'll need.

There's some more useful links in my sig also
