Ls6 Intake, What's The Advantage? What is the advantage of upgrading to an LS6 intake manifold on a mostly stock 2000 LS1 with only a lid, ported TB, and Borla cat back upgrades? I will probably never do a cam, head swap or headers so what gains can be expected by upgrading the intake and which one do you guys recommend? I know a 90mm would be overkill. |
You'd probably feel a little on the top end, bearing in mind the cam in the 98-00 is a little (little) bit bigger than the 01-02. Definitely can't hurt :) Go with the LS6 IMO -J |
youre better off getting headers and not the intake. look around. used headers can be had for the price of the used or new intake. |
more flow..with header like stated above, its a good mod Ls1's are restricted.. more air in+more air out=more power |

What state do you live in? I'm not sure but I'd bet if anything's lost on the low end, it'd be negligable that you wouldn't feel :judge: |

Ah, well NJ has the same tests and I passed on my old LT1 with LTs and a catted Y-pipe... That was even the sniffer (moot point). We do the plug in test here, and I've known a few ppl that pass with ORY and having the rear 02s programmed out, it's just that you need to go through a drive cycle, just some food for thought :chug: Might as well do the intake now if you want, it's not like you have to do any of them in order, should you change your mind on headers down the road. -J |
When you say a drive cycle you mean don't show up with a cold engine? |
I wish it was that easy... here you go: http://www.obdii.com/drivecycle.html My friend didn't do that, he just drove the car a lot when he put LTs and ORY on, and only failed because the CEL was on because of a busted AIR pump, his programming of the rear 02s was fine. -J |
Holy crap dude, I just read the info you sent me and as much as I appreciate you really helping me out........It seems like more aggrevation than it's worth. I have a Diablo sport programmer that has the capability of deleting the EGR and AIR codes but I have been told that they only shut off the SES light and do not eliminate the signal to the OBD II. |

the pcm has codes and shit that make it trigger the lights. when you have it tuned, they take out those codes so nothing is triggered anymore |

i dont know if it jsut gets ride of the lite or disables the codes period |

Good call, I know that if you only delete the code, eventually it SHOULD come back. Case being, I had my friend delete my rear 02 code before I had them programmed out after headers... light went on no more than 50 miles later. Try to inspect first, then have two years to mess around with the car :chug: -J |
Intake is worth it in my opinion. followed by headers. You get that thing breathing right and we are talking some good power for less money! |
About how many horses do you usually get out of an ls6 intake. 15? |
