Quick question On holding the crank to torque the balancer bolt How is everyone holding the crank when it comes time to torque the balancer bolt, with the auto trans vs the manual.
Are the auto,s pulling the starter and using the lock for the flywheel?

I just used an impact on mane. 
With a stick i would figure that you would put it in 5th or 6th gear and pull the e-brake. autos? idk

You can put a prybar or large screwdriver in the teeth of the flywheel through the inspection hole on the bottom of the 4L60E to hold the flywheel still. Takes two people though, one to hold the flywheel still and one to wrench on the crank bolt.
No need to pull the starter on the A4, not sure about M6 cars.

I just put the car in 4th gear with the e-brake on
