Looks nice and prolly flows fine, but I hear they heatsoak like a bitch. They're metal, so they'll hold heat, unlike the LS1/LS6 or FAST composite intakes.

yeah i've yet to hear something good about the bbk ssi on the board but a friend recommended it and then when i ordered it i was actually just trying to order the ls6 by slp and asked about the ssi and i was told it would be just as good if not better than the ls6 he did mention heat soke but he said it wouldn't be anything bad enough to worry about... i'll post up results i should be going to the track this friday coming my current e.t is 12.33 i'll see if i can better that with the ssi

Alum intakes have been around for years on all makes of cars, from race cars to street cars.

Hell every high HP turbo car ive seen is using alum, and they are FI so heat would be a greater problem for them than a NA car......

Im looking at the BBK intake also..

But the benefit of the intake staying together under boost outweighs the heat soak. Of course any FI car is gonna have high heat intake chrages due to the fact that compressing air heats it up. If the IC is of correct choice the pipe after the IC will be cold to the touch. Metal intakes hold up under positive pressure then vacume, thats why most FI cars have em.

I really could care less, alum intakes are fine to me......Im not really a bandwagon kinda guy....And every car on the market for years has had metal so it doesnt bother

If I have the cash Ill get a weind or a BBK

If not LS6 is next

+1 for the BBK. If you can, take a die grinder and a long reach cone shaped burr and knock the casting flash off the runers as far in as you can go. Then hit the whole runner with some 120 gt sanding rolls .

Well the intake looks great and my car no longer has idle problems. I was at the track this weekend and i was disappointed, the car ran a best of 12.79 with a 1.7 60ft. @108mph i lost about 4 tenths and 5mph, with the excuse that the car hasn't been tuned to the intake and the weather didn't help any either. Next time the car will be retuned and hopefully the weather cooperates other than that the car feels great and the intake looks real good...
