Only on a max-effort drag car.

1 3/4" is the better choice here.

I really don't think it will matter that much. If you plan on FI or more displacement then the bigger primaries will be the better bet in the long run, but they really won't hurt anything otherwise. I guess they may be more difficult to fit, but you'll need to check.

I'll second that. If you plan on anything bigger down the road it would suck to buy them again.

But on the other hand 1-3/4" is plenty fine. I only have 1-3/4" FLP's on my 427 and they work fine with my car.

Peace,
Craig.

If you plan on going bigger down the road (motor wise) OR you plan with a power adder (turbo/sc/nitrous) I'd highly recommend the 1 7/8".......

I bought a set of Kooks myself (even knowing about the fitment issues) But when American Racing came out with there fbody header and made it available in 1 7/8", AND had the same features I was looking for when I chose the Kooks - I REALLY was undediced at that point......THEN I saw this thread:

https://ls1tech.com/forums/dynamometer-results-comparisons/596937-kooks-1-7-8-american-racing-1-7-8-a.html

and that was enough to make up my mind.... I sold my KOOKS (they we're new in the box) and bought the AR's

Glad I did too..... The AR headers tuck up REEEEEAL NICE. Not to mention that y pipe just looks plain SWEET.

I don't think for a minute you'd be wrong buying the Kooks......... for me I just wanted the BEST header i could put on the car, and IMHO there is something BETTER than Kooks finally for us LSx people.

Im hoping to have some initial driving impressions of my L76/L92 408 in the next week or so (would be sooner but someone decided to have this holiday called thanksgiving right smack dab in the middle of me finishing up the car LOL)
