Regular life coolant vs long life coolant I'm not sure if this is the right section but I figured it was my best chance.
I need to find and what is the difference between regular coolant and extended life coolant. Also some advantages and disadvantages would be great.
I also need to know what type antifreeze requires a refractometer for testing.

can use a refractometer to test either coolant or napa has a little glass tube for like 5 dollars that test either type coolant. extended life coolant suppubly can go five years without changing but if u wait to long it will cause build ups in your coolant system lots of times clogging up your heater core opening if u dont use it for awhile then go to use it in the fall. From experience both my s10 and my moms blazer twice. Also trying to change from one type to another is not recomended. Some people do it successfully but i have heard some horror stories. The regular life coolant should be changed every two years

I wouldn't worry about using extended life. If you're modding your car you'll end up changing the fluid as part of the modding process. 
I just use good ole' dexcool + water. My system stays squeaky clean too.
