And you ask a very good question about the muffler that comes with the Bassani system...the answer is no there is a chamber inside the muffler, basically an open space, where the pipes connect, but the reality is, it makes no difference, by the time the exhaust has gotton that far it's cooled off enough to not make any difference whatsoever.
To prove it, I welded in a TRUE dual-in dual-out muffler in place of the Bassani, and saw absolutely no difference on the dyno. You can read about this project here:

It is designed out of the box to hook up to stock manifolds because that's the longest configuration you need to have. But with a little work by your exhaust guy you can easily hook it up to LTs.
And a 3500 is by no means too loose. A shift kit with a larger stall will take some of the looseness out of the part throttle shifts and make for nice firm quick shifts at WOT. I only went with 1 washer BTW, it's perfect for a street car.
