Default Deleting pcv...

Im wanting to get rid of my pcv system on a 01 ls1 and i was wondering to what breathers i will need to be able to do that. Part numbers, pics, links, etc. will be very useful. I found the breather to replace the oil cap but concerned about the breathers for the valve covers. Thanks in advance.

Thats what I did, I did it a few days ago. I just bought a 3/8 cap and capped everything off and got a metco breather that takes the place of the oil cap off of a member here.

Its best to put a breahter on each valve cover if your running a completely closed system.

I dont believe it would make a difference. One, 1st gen motors did it with no problem. Two, if it can relieve crankcase pressure through that little pcv valve the breather would be no problem. Dont you agree? I had a 574hp sb with just one breather, no problem with it at all.

I just did this recently too, but I have a feeling it isn't working right. At an idle, I get smoke coming from the breather. Is that normal. I do have a ported LS6 oil pump, so is it because more oil is hitting the valve train and just burning off?

The more ventalation the better.

On an engine producing 570+ Rwhp your going to need more than the approx. 1" inside diameter hole of the Metco breather to relieve crank case pressure in higher RPMs. I thinking of welding a tube off the rear of each valve cover to a junction and mount a breather in the cowl plenum erea of the windsield. It will be hidden and I would think extra length of hose will help to sepperate the oil and the hight of the breather will help in oil drain back. simmilar to what the circle track guys have been running for years.
