Well I'm completly shocked no one has answered this already.
Some people have alot of trouble with ther PCV system putting oil into the intake and they don't like the oil getting in there and getting burnt. This typically happens at higher RPMs.
Stock cars with this problem either have the living crap drove out of them or just have a bad PCV valve.
So the PCV mod is intalling an air compressor water trap in between the PCV line and the throttle body to catch the oil so that it does not go into the intake.
I changed my stock ls1 intake to the ls6 at about 165,000 miles and I had no oil at all in my intake so I guess I fall in the doesn't drive the living crap out of my car category or maybe I'm just lucky.
Just in case PCV stands for Positive Crankcase Ventalation. Does just that, vents the crank case when it has positive pressure built up.

A catch can is intended for use with stock style PCV systems routing back to the intake tract. Oil vapors traveling through the PCV system are caught in the C/can filtration system and transform the vapor to liquid form and become trapped in the can. The line out of the side of the can is then routed back to your intake or throttle body.
This will eliminate about 85% of the oil from going back into the motors air intake system .
The octain of your fuel will be less affected with a clean intake track.

If your lucky and the search is working, you should be able to find some info on it. The "can" is just an air compressor water trap you can buy at lowes, home depot etc...
