Default Under drive pulleys

Just wondering if they are worth the money and if they cause any overheating issues or A/C problems in the hot summer months? I've heard that they are worth about ten rwhp, but don't want a lot of side effects.

This is a very controversial question. You will find all sorts of opinions. I have one on mine. Never had an a/c or temp problem. However, I was sitting idling at the track while they cleaned up the track from a car that dropped its load. My battery discharged and I had to get a jump. I then put an overdrive pulley on my alternator and have had no problem since.
As to the value, well, I like mine. I doubt, however, that you get a full 10 hp. Most add-ons exagerate their hp gains, note they say "Up to xx hp".

I asked a similar Q on CZ28. I heard people w M6 had no problems at all whereas the A4 guys had charging issues. Some pulleys offer a kit w/ an OD pulley for the alternator.

there deff. not worth the 200+ dollars slp and others try to sell them for, however if your doing internal mods and can get one for around 100 bucks its not a bad mod, also if you can get the pulley for the Alt. that would be a good idea also....it will take a bit of strain off your motor and free up some power

have to disagree with most here - no problems with mine in over two years, and I really did feel a good difference. Totally worth the time and money!

I have had my ASP crank pulley for 4 years with no problems. I did throw my serpentine belt at the track once, but I think it was due to high rpm's and the stock tensioner, not the pulley.

I have had my ASP Crank U/D Pulley for 6 years and have experienced no side effects of it. It is a worthwhile part and I highly recommend it.

I had an ASP underdrive pulley and never had any problems. I use an ATI now which is the best IMHO

I asked this same question before I bought mine. I was running a best of 7.47 @ 91 mph before Pullys & EWP

After the install of ASP Pully & EWP I ran a best of 7.26 @ 94 mph. So I disagree with the haters

i like slp/powerbond because of the high retension walls to prevent belt slip.

Also I heard some pulleys don't clear the double roller timing sets...I think it was powerbond and SLP that don't require machining iirc...

But overall a pulley is worth a solid 10 rwhp 10 rwtq. Not sure about the Auto thing though...they tend to idle lower in gear because of the stock converter tightness, and the ones in this thread who have a pulley and auto all have aftermarket converters
