Default T-Stat Question

I had a buddy of mine with his HP Tuners set my temp 15* cooler than stock. So what does that mean, the fans will turn on at 195*. i forgot what stock temp is set at. Any ways, would i benefit from a 160* T-stat or a 180* T-stat?

You would benefit from a 160 tstat more because the fans would turn on earlier at that degree. Im not sure on the t/a however but on the grand prixs 160 tstats throw a code but 180 tstats dont.

Base Tune Fan 1 On temp is 226*F, Fan 2 On Temp is 234*F.

I can only assume you're referring to Fan settings from what you were writing.

Yes, you would. You need a tstat to take advantage of the lower fan settings. Without one, the lower fan settings are useless and will be ignored by the stock tstat. Get the 160*.

The stock tstat is usually open around 190. I have a 180 in mine and the temps are not much different.

Yes, that is the reason why... the 180* stat is not much different from the stock one.

The 160* allows for much cooler temp settings.

Search thermostat in the tuning section, you'll find lots of info. Here's how mine are setup (160* Hypertech).....
