Default TB porting with a twist...

I've had my BBK 80mm TB for a few years now, and I got a dremel for xmas. I'm wondering if porting it would help at all. I notice that the inlet and outlets of the TB are a mixture of polished (to a mirror shine), and very rough surfaces. Was this done for a reason? What if I finished it out polishing the entire insides? Has anyone ported one of these before? Are there any gains to be had? I am trying to get myself somewhere between an LS6 intake and a full 90/90 setup. I've already port-matched the opening of my LS6 to the 80mm TB.

Any thoughts?

air actually flows better through a coarse membrane than a polished one, but the coarse membrane has to be designed specially to maximize airflow. this tb likely was designed with this in mind, and if you polish the whole thing, you'll be hurting yourself.

Cool, thanks guys. I'm glad I didn't smooth out the course parts. Maybe I'll still cut the shaft and sharpen the throttle plate...
