MAF error code, just a fluje or on its way out?

MAF error code, just a fluke or on its way out? Got a xxx code that said air flow reading low. Well, I am not sure when the resistors read low. Would it be at idle and thinking its not pulling enough air? Would it be with the trottle open on the highway, or both? Well, that does not matter, but, the real question is will a good cleaning of the resistors fix this or is a low reading just a sign that the MAF is on its way out the door? Not too concerned cause we can get them for $80, but, if mine is failing, might as well give here a new MAF tuneup. I hosed the MAF down with carb cleaner....I know, I know, but, I need to get the SES light out cause it HAS to go through emissions soon, and, I might as well drive the final nail in the coffin sooner than later if it is going to croak on me. The SES light is out for now, so, we will see, but, would like the boards opinion on this, thanks.
