The size of the engine or power of the engine don't make any difference, True Duals scavenge and outflow ypipes in all situations.
I agree that duals make more power. However, is it worth while to upgrade to true duals no matter how your engine is setup?

The size and power does matter to some degree because you'll see a greater increase on a more heavily modified engine, with true duals.

Thus, IMO, if you're staying under 400 HP, I don't think it makes much sense to upgrade to duals.

That's actually a matter of opinion...you have to weigh the good (more tq) with the bad (higher cost) and decide if it fits your budget and goals. IMO it's worth it on any v-engine car because of 1) sound and 2) performance potential. I just wouldn't feel right running a hindered exhaust when I knew I could easily be making more power (yes for more money) and sound better. But the cost of Duals (Bassani's kit is only $960) is negligable to the sound and performance I would gain, regardless of engine. I guess it comes down to how much do you want to spend to go fast, just like all modifications...

The reason 4into2into 1 headers are not more popular is for one reason only ECONOMICS.Just because you don't see them offered for our little street cars does not
mean they don't work. Most serious engines use them and all nextel cup teams do.Call
up burns or davis and ask what they cost.

I know this is old, but in hopes of a response how much power do you think a 3 inch Y pipe system is holding back on your setup? I’m building a 383 and would like to keep my Y pipe. But I’m just hoping it isn’t restricting it too much lol

I would do the true dual. I went from the y pipe to the 3 inch true dual over the axle and it picked up 30hp and 30tq on my ls3 427.

Yea I think I might do that. I might be giving up 10-15hp I’m guessing since I’ll be 44ci less than your engine..

Duals have always sounded way better than a y pipe IMO.
