That setup of your looks pretty damn nice! Since Im a 98 owner I plan to go with SD as well to eliminate any problems when I go over 2-bar!

yea it can, i've seen it many times. do a scatter plot of dynair vs rpm in excel, for wot (tps>95) data only and you'll see how much airflow readings can differ. then clean your filter, do some runs, do the same chart, and the relationship will be much cleaner.

I'm glad a professional and mature expert tuner could chime in. I'll keep this in mind.

I was just using it as an example of a change in the conditions, didn't mean for it to be taken seriously, but aparently it's enough from what Redhard is saying.

Maybe so, although "Redhard" could be right, since he tunes dozens and dozens of cars a week he could have seen it himself. No doubt. However, just because something is measurable and did change A/F ratios even slightly, say moving them .X one way or the other, that's not THAT drastic. Many cars (late 80s, early 90s) came from the factory as speed density cars. However, most if not all were closed loop or had some closed loop functionality. Let's say for arguments sake there are drastic changes with ambient temp shifts, I can always tune around them and it's not a chore because I do enjoy this stuff it's a hobby

what kind of weather changes will not be good for SD? I was thinking of having my dads car tuned that way, but am just starting to look into this. Ive seen some high HP cars that seem to be all running SD tunes. is it worth power? just easier to tune? is a 235/242 112+2 cam big enough to mess with the maf readings? is that at lower rpm that it has bad readings or all the times?

this car is not driven that often, and only for fun. no need for fuel mileage worries but just want the most ponies. but not if the tune needs to be changed from spring (cold air) to summer (90deg. days often) to fall (cold air again).

sorry man, but HAHAHAHA. how do you like it texas sunofbiotch!. just kidding dude. you should come up here to michigan for a vacation. winter just hit here last week beleive it or not. very weird having it be in the 50's through new years. anyways Im sure it'll turn around for you in a few weeks and it'll be warm enough/dry enough to get to the dyno.

and yes, Im a jealous bastard 1:of your car, and 2:I wish I lived in a warmer state. I hate storing my car half of the year.

we have fairly flip floppy weather here, no noticable change in drivability with my SD, my tuner lives by it and well gotta say i dont regret letting him do it one bit, I took a peice of 3.5in pipe cut and welded it at an angle for my delete pipe, ill post pics up as soon as i get it cleaned up a lil more and make it look nice.

+ or - 0.00x is not that drastic a change
+ or - 0.0x is not that drastic a change, but can make an audible difference (especially with open pipes)
+ or - 0.X can be felt in the SOTP.

during extreme weather changes (say it's 70 one day and 30 the next) a dead nuts OLSD tune will drift as much as 5%. There are, however, a few operating systems out there that allow you to compensate for drastic IAT changes keeping the OLSD drift well under 1%.

Im in SD 2 Bar. And yes a dirty air filter can change alot of things. I used a 3 inch pipe I molded at work to delete the MAF!

Sounds great,
This sounds like the way to go,
and makes sense, since I know more about 80's & 90's cars than the newest stuff.
